Senior Season

By Tori De La Vega

As the winter season sports come to an end, the seniors from both boys and girls teams are faced with memories that will last them the rest of their lives. Over the past four years memories have been created, bonds formed, and lessons learned.

What’ll players now do during sixth period, a time they’ve spent continuously preparing for upcoming games and matches? Some will transfer into other sports, while others reminisce and prepare for their next season. But the seniors—they’ll prepare to leave the place they’ve called home for years. They leave the same halls they’ve walked with friends that have come and gone, just as they leave stress and eagerness that has emanated from cramming for tests the night before, and most importantly, and sadly, leaving  the memories and Tiller spirit that has been ingrained in every Tiller’s life. The seniors are now moving onto what they call “the real world.” The season of basketball, soccer, and water polo will be mere memories from the past. As the spring season approaches not only are the athletes preparing for their upcoming events and activities, but the seniors are also preparing for decisions that’ll affect the rest of their lives. A couple of years ago, we were freshmen with big backpacks that were heavier than we were—and now we’re becoming adults that will have to prepare for rest of our lives as well as make a plethora of defining decisions in just the next few months.

Not only will the seniors have changed, just like sports from season to season, but they should appreciate the little things that encompass this campus, as everyday is the last of its kind. The seniors are going to be moving on from the only place they’ve known for the past four years and into the great unknown. The sports played here are now merely things of the past. So to all the seniors moving on and making big decisions, good luck to you all, and know that wherever the path may lead, Once a Tiller always a Tiller.
