Grab a Bite of Senior Year

By Vanessa Soria

As you may or may not know, seniors have the privilege of leaving during lunch, as long as you have a parent signature for an off campus sticker. Senior year is a big year, so why not take advantage of it by grabbing a big bite at one of the many delicious nearby food joints? Tustin High School is lucky to have a variety of different options of food, and even better, they are all within walking distance. Plus, it’s great way to get in a workout on the way to your destination.

Tustin High is around relatively inexpensive, buffet-style restaurants like Souplantation, Gohan Sushi, Sushi Damu, Roma D’Italia, and Cream Pan. These choices are quick, especially since our lunch is during a slow time, meaning, the restaurants aren’t so packed, so for seniors it wouldn’t be a hassle if you have a 6th period after lunch.

But if you want something even quicker, this school is surrounded by fast food spots as well— all of which are very tasty and very inexpensive. Namely, we have Jack in the Box, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Del Taco, New York Pizza Faktory, Poke Town, El Toro Bravo, Poki TiKi, Bagel Me, Subway, Pizza Hut, Wahoo’s, Alberta’s Mexican Food, Chronic Tacos, Flame Broiler, Little Caesars, Carl’s Jr and Dominos Pizza—to name a few. Some of these places are even on the sticker behind your ID card, if you don’t have an ASB stamp on your ID. With this, you are able to get discounts or free food with a certain amount of purchases. Try something new, even it’s something you thought you would never like, it may or may not change your mind.

If all you want to do is go out for a drink, your punch card has got you covered! Leaf N Cream is just one of the places where you’re able to customize your own drink or choose a signature one off the menu. Plus, you’re able to add things in such as boba, aloe, pudding and so much more. And of course, there is the schoolwide staple—Starbucks. This is a big hit because it is literally right across the street from school. Similar to Leaf  N Cream, we also have 7 Leaves Cafe—where it’s all about tea, coffee, and add ons. It also has wifi, which is perfect for anyone looking to complete any homework or any web browsing you’d like to do while you enjoy a tasty tea, coffee, or even a pastry.

Of course, we can’t forget about Yogurtland. Just a hop, skip, and a jump away across Orange Street is the chain where you serve yourself frozen yogurt and top it off with an assortment of candy and fruit. This is the ideal place if you don’t really want food, but you want something sweet. If you’re looking for a healthy alternative, Acai Republic is a great option. You get to choose an acai bowl full of fruit and granola, and with its low price point,  it proves that tasty food can be inexpensive.

So seniors, take advantage of your options—plan a date or take a friend. It doesn’t matter—just go out and explore the different food options all around Tustin High School. And if you don’t have time during lunch? Head over after school! Don’t miss the opportunity to grab a bite of this (tasty) senior year!
