2016 has finally come to an end and a new era has begun for gamers of all platforms, but before we move along and enjoy all of the fresh unique games this brand-new year has to offer we have decided to relive and reminisce about the great experiences that the best games of 2016 have left imprinted within us.

In the last spot, we introduce to you a very popular game among soccer fans and sports lovers. FIFA 17 has undoubtedly earned itself a spot in the best games of 2016 for its drastic improvement of graphics and gameplay, not only that but it has also been ranked as one of the top selling games of the year. Despite being a yearly release title, EA Sports has managed to keep the FIFA franchise at the top of the charts due to its great quality. This video game allows the player to see what it feels like to be a player with its vivid and lifelike scenarios.

Coming in at nine, The Last Guardian was released on December 6, 2016. This game is an action-adventure game by the composer Takeshi Furukawa. It was designed by Fumito Ueda and developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Team Ico, and GenDesign, SCE Japan Studio. The only platform this game can be played on is Playstation 4.

Taking the eighth position on this list is Dishonored 2. This video game is the sequel to the first Dishonored game, which was released back in 2012, and was a huge success in the gaming world. Dishonored 2 is considered an action adventure stealth game which is a bizarre combination of genres that many seem to enjoy. This video game is full of creativity and originality, and has therefore earned itself a place on this list and a place as best action/adventure game of 2016 according to The Game Awards.

In seventh place is Final Fantasy XV, a sandbox role-playing game.This game is the fifteenth main installment in the Final Fantasy series. The soundtrack for the game is composed by Yoko Shimomura. Some of the developers are Square Enix Holdings, Umbra, XPEC Entertainment, many other companies. This game can only be played on Xbox One and Playstation 4. The release date for the game was November 29th, 2016.

Coming in at number six is Dark Souls 3, a third-person video game that his earned its place in this list by stunning us with its incredible gameplay and well crafted graphics. This action, role playing game was introduced to the world in April 2016. It is the conclusion to the Dark Souls series and became an instant hit having sold over 3 million copies in only two months. This video game did not only make history inside the Namco Entertainment company, having become its best selling game of all time, but it also gave us gamers hours of fun and entertainment.

Taking the fifth spot is, Titanfall 2, another first-person shooting game made by Respawn Entertainment and published by the Electronic Arts. It is the sequel to the famous, Titanfall. The designer of this game is Todd Alderman and the composer is Stephen Barton. It was released on October 28, 2016. The game can be played on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Coming in at fourth place is a video game like no other. It’s incredible first-person experience and magnificent graphics have given this game a top, and well deserved, spot in history as one of the best games the past year had to offer. The game is titled “Doom” and is a reboot of the popular 2004 series. This video game has a lot to offer and due to its amazing gameplay it is no surprise it became an instant fan favorite.

Another stunning game, coming in at third place is a first-person shooter called Battlefield 1. Battlefield is a series of critically acclaimed military games. This Battlefield is the fifteenth installment in the Battlefield series. The developer of this game is EA DICE and the writer is the famous, Stephen Hall. Platforms for this game include Xbox one, Playstation 4, and PC. The game launched on October 21, 2016.

In the second position stands Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. This action-adventure video game, published by Sony, is a sequel to Uncharted 3: Drakes deception and a conclusion to Naughty Dog’s most popular franchise. This amazing game consists of many unique aspects such as third-person shooters, supernatural creatures, and overall amazing graphics.

The top spot goes to an amazing video game for Xbox one, Playstation 4, and PC and that game is Overwatch. It’s a first person shooting game, with team based multiplayer. Awards that this game have achieved are The Game Award for Game of the Year, The Game Award for Best Studio/Game Direction, The Game Award for Best ESports Game, and The Game Award for Best Multiplayer Game. Overwatch was developed  by Blizzard Entertainment, the same people that brought you World of Warcraft. The initial date of the release of the game was on May, 23, 2016.

2016 is now gone but it has left great memories, great experiences but most importantly, great games. It will definitely be a year the gaming world will not soon forget having dropped amazing video game titles along the way.
