Recently, women have been raving over matte liquid lipsticks and lip stains, and, luckily for them, there’s a plethora of brands to choose from. Colors vary from vibrant neons to subtle nudes. Although there has been hype placed on brands such as “Kylie Lip Kit” and “Too Faced Melted Liquified Longwear Lipstick”, there are similar, if not better, brands for a much cheaper price. Kelly Pham, junior at Tustin High agrees, “Although the “Kylie Lip Kit” stays on all day, it’s overpriced and there are cheaper brands that are actually better than the higher priced liquid lipsticks.” To name a few, Kat von D’s “Everlasting Liquid Lipstick” and Sephora “Collection Cream Lip Stains” are affordable, easy to apply, and last all day. 

Kat von D’s “Everlasting Liquid Lipstick” comes in a variety of colors. Some notable ones include ‘Lolita’, ‘Lolita II’, and ‘Vampira’. They are a perfect matte and apply smoothly. Like every liquid lipstick, you should be cautious as to how you apply it because it does dry fairly quick. These are a bit dry on the lips, however not as dry as the Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip. For twenty dollars, I would highly recommend the Kat von D’s “Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks”; they are indeed everlasting.

The Sephora “Collection Cream Lip Stain” is a staggering six dollars cheaper than Kat von D’s at a price of just fourteen dollars. Sephora’s brand of liquid lip stains is vastly underrated, however if you consider yourself a true makeup fanatic, you should know that it surpasses the quality of the “Kylie Lip Kit” and any other high brand names. A great perk about this lip stain is that it isn’t too dry and it’s bold enough to where lip liner is unnecessary. Because it’s not matte, most will make the assumption that it isn’t enduring or long lasting, however that is far from the truth. This lip stain lasts all day and manages to look fresh even by the end of the night. Some of their most notable colors include Vintage Rosewood and Pink Tea. Every makeup aficionado should have these in their makeup bag in place of the more expensive name brand liquid lipsticks.
