Fidel Castro was a Cuban dictator who reigned and tormented the country of Cuba for over 47 years. He died on November 25, of this year, in Santiago de Cuba at the age of 90. Despite the fact that the reasons regarding his passing have not yet been verified, many have speculated that he has passed away due to his natural causes.

The great Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz was born on August 13, 1926 in Birán, Cuba. Both of his parents were illiterate, and he was therefore obligated to attend a distinct Jesuit school which led to his enrollment into the Colegio de Belén and the University of Havana where he studied law. During his time in law school, he developed a secret passion towards politics and anti-corruption. He joined the Orthodox Party, which at the moment was battling against the corrupt Rafael Trujillo and his Dominican Republic.

In July 1953, Fidel Castro attempted to invade the City of Moncada with an army of 120 men. His plan failed miserably and his result was a 15-year sentence in prison. He was given a political amnesty or a pardon, but he decided to carry on towards Mexico only strengthening his campaign.

On December 2, 1956, Fidel attempted to attack once more but this time with an army of only 81 men. He led them on a yacht named “Granma” which was only intended for 12 occupants. His intentions failed yet again and out of his 81 soldiers only 9 managed to make it out alive, the list of survivors included Fidel Castro, his brother Raul, and Argentine revolutionist Che Guevara. They began a wage In Sierra Maestra, place where they retreated, and helped drastically increase the number of volunteers to battle against the Batista forces.

On April 9, 1958, Castro called a national strike against Batista and his military. The Bastian’s began to lose their power to Fidel and his army, by 1959 Fidel Castro managed to overthrow Batista and birth was given to his aspirations of someday conquering a whole nation.

Despite everything he has said or done, it is a well know fact that he was one of the most hated people of Cuba, and also one of the luckiest having survived over 600 assassination attempts.

The majority of the Cuban crowd seems to be “happy” about his death and who can blame them. We got the opinion of a Cuban immigrant who is now the proud owner of a restaurant in Santa Ana, he stated the following “I feel very happy, my family and friends are now free. He has tormented Cuba for many years and now it is all finally over”.
