Tiller’s Baseball Gets the Win in their Staff Appreciation Game

By Katelyn Merrell

Every year the Tustin baseball program holds their staff appreciation game where the players get a chance to choose their favorite teacher or staff member and ask them to wear their jersey at the game. Some of the special staff members out at the game sporting their students’ numbers were Mrs. Trout, Mrs. Koops, Mrs. Vandal, Mrs. Park, Mrs. Lloyd, Mr. Trev, Mr. Easter, Ms. Willoughby-Jones, and Mrs. Bledsoe. Each of the teachers chosen impacted at least one of the players throughout their time at Tustin High School. This game is a special opportunity to honor these teachers and is one of the ways the Tustin High Baseball Program chooses to give back to Tustin High School.

In this game, the Tiller’s Varsity baseball team competed against Western High School in a close match. However, the Tillers came out on top with a one run lead with a score of 4-3. Cole Hoskins pitched wonderfully throwing 6 2/3 without allowing an earned run and Blake Akins came in to close the game. Blake Akins also contributed with the bat getting two hits and an RBI. Anthony Walters also hit very well getting two hits as well.  Despite some errors, the Tillers played a solid game getting the win and the points. The Tillers’ next game in their two game series against Western is Friday at Western at 3:15. Good Luck to our Tillers and their journey towards qualifying for CIF!
