Tough Loss for Tustin Baseball Against Cypress

By Cristobal Segura

Tustin Varsity baseball lost their league opener to top ranked team Cypress in 11 innings on Wednesday. Cypress scored early but Tustin eventually scored six runs, led by Anthony Walters in the 4th, knocking reigning league MVP, Cypress’ James Acuna, out of the game. However, Cypress tied it up in the 6th with two runs of their own, ultimately sending the game to extra innings. It was Cypress centerfielder, Dominic Fletcher, who hit a two-run homerun off Tustin’s Brian Nguyen to give Cypress the victory in the bottom of the 11th.

Assistant Coach Dan Ellis explained the team’s feelings after the match, “It was a tough game to lose. We played well but losses like that are hard to swallow, especially when you have a team like Cypress on the ropes. The good news is we get a chance to respond in two days.”

Support the Tillers in their bid for redemption tomorrow, Friday, April 15th at 3:15 at home at Tustin.
