How to Look High Fashion on Low Cashin’

By: Galilea Oregon

Fashion Week is back, and you know what that means- yet another barrage of trends and styles from the hottest designers and labels for you to keep up with. This season’s shows included neutral tones and structured yet relaxed silhouettes. Brands such as Public School had models in black and white, relaxed and edgy garments. Alexander Wang’s show had a sporty yet laid back feeling with denim cutout skirts paired with track jackets. As much as we want to snag these fresh looks, being stylish can be difficult while living on a high schooler’s tight budget. Below are some outfits you can wear inspired by Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2015 at an affordable price and still look like you just walked off the catwalk.

On Jonathan: H&M Easy-Iron Shirt ($14.99), Old Navy Men’s Classic Crew-Neck Tee ($5.00), H&M Black Chinos Skinny Fit ($29.99)

For guys, pair a striped button down and a white t-shirt along with dark jeans as a nod to Public School’s 90’s aesthetic menswear.

On Jasmine: Brandy Melville T-Shirt Dress ($18)

Not only this, but Public School also gave perfect outfit ideas for girls as well, flowy dark maxi dresses with cutouts and bomber jackets over mini dresses. This outfit is very simple and easy to recreate, throw on a striped t-shirt dress with your favorite shoes and you’re good to go!

On Kendall: Old Navy Men’s Classic Crew-Neck Tee ($5.00), H&M Chinos ($29.99)

Alexander Wang also brought some simple and chic styles. For the first time, Wang introduced a menswear line with well-defined silhouettes and earthy tones. For boys, take inspiration from this all-khaki look and pair your favorite white tee with khaki pants.

On Xylia: Forever 21 Utility Jacket ($29.90), Forever 21 Classic Leggings ($3.90), Forever 21 Ribbed Mock Neck Top ($6.90)

Alexander Wang’s women’s line gave off a groovy relaxed vibe, a definite nod to seventies Southern California. To recreate Wang’s runway look, pair any white tee with an olive green utility or bomber jacket with jeans or legging as pictured above.

Dressing high fashion doesn’t mean paying high prices, especially as a high schooler. Take inspiration from runway looks and transform them into something you can wear without spending so much money. Buy smart and make sure to dress smart, too!

I personally suggest a black flat cap like mine.
