Its that time of the year where Tustin High School’s color guard workshops and auditions begins for the 2015-2016 school year. On May 4th and 5th color guard workshops will begin from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Tustin’s Room 603. But what is color guard? It all started as a military activity. During the American Civil War, soldiers had a band follow them into battle while the person carrying the flag presented it at different angles, and another person carried the colors of the American flag. This was the start of color guard.

Color guard interprets dancing while spinning and tossing flags, rifles and sabres. They perform outdoors with music provided by the marching band. Tustin High’s color guard workshops will teach students with no experience all the basics. After the workshops you audition on May 6th from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Upcoming 2015-2016 Tillers are welcomed.

For more information contact Mr. Fisk in Room 603.
